Job Summary

As University Medical Billing’s Support Clerk, you will be given the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment. Employee is expected to be: well-mannered, upbeat, personable, and customer service oriented while performing a variety of clerical tasks to assist and aid in the billing process. Come work in an office with a leadership team who promotes personal and professional growth. University Medical Billing is the premier professional billing office at the University of Utah.

Responsibilities

1.Perform courier duties depending on business need. Duties include: delivery and pick-up of billing items from various offices on and off campus. Respond and complete requested inquiries emailed to the UMB Courier Outlook Resource within one business day.

2.Sort and distribute electronic and courier serviced mail.

3.Prepare and scan various medical documents into required computer systems.

4.Prepare and mail medical claims by payer within one business day.

5.Act as a resource for sharing knowledge and information within the organization by communicating trends and potential process improvements.

6.Meet productivity and accuracy expectations of the position.

7.Overtime may be required.

8.Other duties may be assigned.

Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires two years of general office or billing experience, basic knowledge of bookkeeping and debits and credits, spreadsheet, word processing, and 10-key skills, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Experience in a medical office or with medical billing is preferred. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
