Job Summary

The College of Social Work is seeking an instructor to teach one or more courses in theMSWprogram. These courses focus on clinical modalities (DBT,CBT,ACT, etc), social problems (mental illness, addiction, trauma, etc), and specific populations (refugees and immigrants, children, older adults, etc). They range from required courses in Practice,HBSE, Macro, orDSMto more specialized electives. We are also interested in having social work professionals with specialized expertise develop electives in collaboration with our faculty.

Classes meet at the main University campus in Salt Lake City and may be beamed to distant sites.

This is a one-semester assignment with possible work in future semesters as needed.

Responsibilities

The Associate Instructor will be expected to:

•Attend an orientation meeting with cognizant curriculum leader;

•Develop or update the class syllabus in collaboration with other instructors;

•Teach each class session;

•Use Canvas according to College guidelines and expectations;

•Assess the extent to which each student has met learning objectives;

•Assign grades to each student;

•Implement College and program policies;

•Keep Program staff informed of student progress and issues that arise;

•Meet with other instructors who teach the same class on a regular basis;

•Maintain regular office hours either in person or by phone or video-conference.

Minimum Qualifications

AnMSWis required, with two years of practice experience relevant to the course topic.

Preferences

PhD in social work or a related field is preferred. College or graduate level teaching experience is preferred, though the College is able to provide some training and guidance to those without it.
