Job Summary

Wellness and Integrative Health at University of Utah Health seeks an Associate Instructor to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual wellness and health promotion programs. This Associate Instructor will provide health coaching in a primary care setting. Wellness and Integrative Health supports internal and external wellness initiatives.


•Delivers wellness services including health coaching, biometric screening, exercise testing and prescription, wellness presentations and programming direct to clients and patients.

•Develops and implements program specific policies and procedures.

•Supervises and evaluates students and trainees.

•Actively participates in research and scholarship opportunities and supports University faculty research as necessary.

•Evaluates program effectiveness.

•Demonstrates technological savvy with respect to online tracking, data collection, reporting and presentations.

•Serves as professional representative of Wellness and Integrative Health to both internal and external clients and patients.

•Provide health coaching and nutrition-based education and consultation to clients and patients in the clinical setting working with a clinical team for improved patient care.

•Develops and helps the patient implement an individualized plan for health behavior, including nutrition, physical activity and sleep interventions.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field. Demonstrated relationship-building and effective communication skills also required. Demonstrated strong understanding of health and wellness. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.


•Master’s degree in a health-related field or equivalency.

•One to three years’ experience in health education or related area.

•Experience working with individuals with chronic health conditions.

•Registered Dietician with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a current license to practice as a Certified Dietitian in the State of Utah.
