THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ATHLETIC TRAINING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH is seeking a faculty candidate to assist in leading in the development of a hybrid curricular pathway. The position will be a full-time Clinical Track position at a rank commensurate with academic and scholarly experience. The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist the hybrid program director in the department’s efforts to meet Utah physical therapy workforce demands through the planning, development, and implementation of an innovative hybrid education delivery pathway for our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the core faculty of a hybrid pathway DPT program that mirrors our strong track record of excellence in DPT education.

The applicant should demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills as well as experience in the development / delivery of hybrid education and a track record of participation in the administration of an academic Physical Therapy Program. Experience in mentoring faculty and an active scholarly agenda, particularly in educational research, would be considered strengths. Responsibilities will include participation in the preparation and submission of university curricular proposals and approvals as well as CAPTE accreditation reports. In addition, the appropriate individual will be expected to integrate their expertise by participating in the existing entry-level DPT , post-professional continuing education programs, or the department’s Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program. Participation will include teaching, mentoring and serving on related committees. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a departmental culture and campus environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities will include assisting the hybrid pathway development team as well as teaching responsibilities within including distance-based and in-classroom teaching and seminar discussion courses. The individual in this position would collaborate with the Program Chair and Hybrid Director to ensure the successful development and execution of the hybrid DPT pathway.

The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training a component of the College of Health and is part of University of Utah Health. University of Utah Health is the major educational, research and referral facility serving the medical needs of Utah and the Intermountain West. University of Utah Health includes the Colleges of Health, Nursing and Pharmacy, the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, University Hospitals and Clinics, the Health Sciences Library and related Core Facilities. In addition to in-house facilities, the College of Health is in close proximity to associated research entities at the VA Medical Center, the Clinical Neurosciences Center, and the University Orthopaedic Center. Ten National Parks are within a days driving distance of the University. Salt Lake City also offers professional symphony, ballet, modern dance, opera and theater performances, art galleries, world-class restaurants and professional sports. Candidates for this position are not required to reside in Salt Lake City, but intermittent travel to the campus would be expected.
