Job Summary

Directs the operations and administration of staffing, donor and alumni relations, and financial management functions in areas including (but not limited to) administrative services, federal or state compliance, and other general business services. Supports the University of Utah’s goals and mission. Collaborates with University of Utah Advancement personnel to assure accurately process gifts and produce report. Responds to the University of Utah Health Science Advancement.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Develops and implements Advancement processes consistent with the University of Utah’s and College of Nursing’s goals and objectives

2. Manages Advancement Office budget, estimates budgetary requirements for special projects and oversees purchases and inventory

3. Implements and administers new and existing Development Office programs and services to internal and external stake holders. Evaluates program effectiveness

4. Assumes authority and performs functions of the Director of Advancement in her absence

5. Participates in the development and interpretation of department polices to ensure compliance with the University’s policies and regulatory requirements. Ensures compliance with Federal and state regulations

6. Establishes internal objectives and implements procedures to meet goals. Assists in setting college level advancement short and long-term goals

7. Supervises two to three Advancement Office staff

8. Facilitates relationships with alumni, donor and representatives in community

9. Authorizes purchases and or acquisition of supplies, promotional products specific to advancement.

10. Serves as part of the Advancement team

11. Plans and executes advancement events within specified details such as catering, transportation event space etc

12. Identifies information on bio maintenance, organizational contacts, etc. to ensure information is accurate in the development database

13. Processes incoming gifts, produces and reconciles gift reports monthly

14. Stewards donors in accordance with standard University processes

15. Other duties as required

A major responsibility for the person filling this position, is to understand the needs of the College of Nursing’s Advancement Office, including its goals, daily operations, administration, and expected outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master’s degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
