Job Summary

The Department of Biomedical Informatics is hiring an Associate Accountant. Our mission is to advance health sciences and practice by pursuing excellence in the discovery and application of informatics innovations, education of the next generation of a diverse biomedical workforce, and establishment, development of and the building of collaborative partnerships. This position will contribute to our mission in the following functions.

Responsibilities

1.Maintains and reconciles department accounts and makes correction to journal entries as necessary.

2.Handles purchasing requests, department deposits and reimbursements for the department.

3.Handles travel requests for the department.

4.Purchases and maintains office supplies for department. Arranges for service calls as needed.

5.Other duties as assigned.

6.Receives, greets and directs visitors to appropriate person or office, answers department main telephone line, providing assistance and directing customers to the correct person or office.

7.Coordinates and schedules meetings and conferences, including ordering of food, posts conference room weekly schedule.

8.Provides administrative support to the department. Processes and distributes mail.

9.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, and an understanding of basic accounting principles, mathematical and spreadsheet skills; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
