The Scientific Computing and Imaging ( SCI ) Institute at the University of Utah is growing and pursuingmultiple new faculty hires over the next 3 years ( . These hires will expand the core research expertise at the SCI Institute, further enhance its strong research reputation in high performance computing, scalable data analytics and machine learning, and interdisciplinary computational and data-enabled science and engineering. A major goal is to help conceptualize, design and build the software systems and services that will be essential to solving the next generation of multidisciplinary, data-intensive, and AI-enabled scientific grand challenges on the machines of the next decade and beyond based on computer architectures that lie beyond Exascale, and to attract new partnerships across the University and beyond. Candidates whose research expertise involves workflows, task-flows, schedulers, orchestrators, and/or AI runtimes at extreme scales are of particular interest. This specific recruitment is for a tenure track faculty position within the SCI Institute with an academic appointment is an appropriate University of Utah School or Department. We are seeking an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Faculty (Tenure Track) Position with demonstrated abilities in teaching and research. This hire will expand the core research expertise at the SCI Institute, further enhance its strong research reputation in high performance computing, scalable data analytics and machine learning, and interdisciplinary computational and data-enabled science and engineering. A major goal is to attract new partnerships across the University and beyond.

We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated expertise and ability to perform world class research in these areas which may be demonstrated by a strong publication record in highly ranked journals and conferences or a strong record of deploying widely used software systems. Prior experience in attracting funding from national funding agencies, such as NSF , DOE , DOD , for example is highly desirable for senior applicants.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD degree from a quantitative field, such as, computer science, engineering, electrical and computer engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, applied physics, etc. Candidates with extensive research experience in research laboratories are also welcome to apply if they have a demonstrated track record in the relevant areas and have previous training in the quantitative fields listed above.
