The University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) seeks full time (1.0FTE) experienced Registered Nurses (RN) who will serve as Career Line (i.e., non-tenure-line) faculty members to primarily teach in the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing program.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: TheCONseeks individuals with expertise in the area of baccalaureate education. These Career Line faculty members primarily will teach in the pre-licensure BS and/or post-licensure BS in nursing tracks. Responsibilities include classroom and/or online didactic teaching, student supervision in clinical settings, and teaching in theCONSimulation Center. TheCONhas specific needs in the areas of foundations of clinical nursing care, maternal and infant health, pediatrics, global public health, mental and behavioral health, and adult acute care nursing. Other core areas within the curricula include evidence-based practice; policy, advocacy, and collaboration in healthcare; foundations of professionalism, care transitions across the lifespan, leadership and management, physical assessment, health promotion, health systems and policy, pathophysiology, and interprofessional education. Opportunities to teach in graduate programs depend on qualifications and certification. Additional faculty expectations include ongoing input and feedback regarding BS program development, curriculum development, college committee service, and professional activities/service. Development of clinically focused scholarship is an expectation for long-term retention and advancement in rank.

Criteria: Graduation from an accredited College or School of Nursing is required. Master’s Degree in Nursing is required; Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or enrollment in a PhD orDNPprogram is desired. Teaching experience, including student clinical supervision as well as classroom, online, and/or simulation teaching is preferred. Relevant health care experience, evidence of an established area of clinical expertise, and strong organizational and communication skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients and other members of the health care and academic team are essential. Must hold or be eligible for a RN license in Utah.
