THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ATHLETIC TRAINING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH is seeking an outstanding faculty candidate in the Balance and Mobility Clinic in Salt Lake City, Utah. The position will be a 1.0 FTE full-time career-line clinical faculty position at the Assistant Professor (Clinical) level.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: This faculty member will provide physical therapy to patients with vestibular, balance and mobility conditions through examination of individual patient’s abilities and limitations. They will implement evidence based vestibular and balance/mobility rehabilitations programs, as well as maintain up to date knowledge of contemporary vestibular clinical practice guidelines and current research evidence in order to provide high quality patient care. Candidate will provide education for staff, other departments and the community, possibly manage clinical staff, demonstrate strong focus on oversight of clinic operations, quality assurance, system improvements, and clinic staff support. They will assist in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of clinical faculty and staff, coordinate student experiences in the clinic, keep clinical faculty and staff informed about healthcare administration (e.g., billing, new policies and procedures, legal changes) and provide strategic support and leadership in planning, developing, and implementing new programs to advance the academic and clinical missions and goals of the department.

Criteria: Candidates must have current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Utah, as well as have current RQI Healthcare provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. Preferred qualifications of management or supervisory experience.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. The employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without accommodation: This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment while providing patient care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners or behavioral health patients.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for each patient’s personal needs and to provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual in accordance to the mission and vision statement of the Balance and Mobility Clinic.
