Job Summary

Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Recruitment in the Office of Admissions, the Assistant Director/Regional Recruiter will be an integral part of the team responsible for recruiting and enrolling new undergraduate students in Southern California. Serving as an advisor to prospective students, their families, secondary school counselors and others, the Assistant Director/Regional Recruiter will effectively communicate the University of Utah value proposition. The Assistant Director/Regional Recruiter will work from home and will manage all undergraduate student recruitment efforts in Southern California, while maintaining regular communication with the Office of Admissions at the University of Utah.

Responsibilities

•Develop, implement, report and assess a domestic first-year recruitment plan that helps the institution achieve its enrollment goals within a growing market

•Implement a domestic first-year recruitment plan which includes high school visits, college fairs, information sessions, receptions, and meetings with secondary school and independent counselors, prospective students, families, and community-based organizations (CBOs)

•Build personalized relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, alumni, and other constituents in support of the recruitment goals for the territory

•Support the recruitment and admission of transfer students from institutions within the assigned territory

•Plan all off-campus admission events in all areas of regional responsibility in collaboration with the campus experience team

•Read and evaluate all domestic applications in regional territory

•Collaborate with the Alumni Association in support of institutional initiatives within the region

•Significant travel, including some overnights and weekends, within the territory between early September to mid-November and mid-January to mid-April is required. Periodic travel to campus for office training, staff meetings, and on-campus events is also expected

•Perform other duties as assigned

•Demonstrated ability to think strategically, take initiative, and work with a high level of autonomy

•Ability to live in targeted area and work out of home

•Knowledge of Hobsons Connect or similarCRMis desirable

•Willingness and ability to travel, sometimes extensively

•Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as needed

•Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Department Specific Qualifications

2-4 years of undergraduate admissions experience at a regionally accredited university is required.
