Job Summary

Supports the search committee process for faculty (tenure and career line) and center and program directors inSTEMrelated colleges and departments. Activities include logistical support through the entire search process from working with search committees on recruiting strategies and crafting the job posting to scheduling interviews and campus visits and closing the search following appointment of the selected candidate. Identifies and applies inclusive, best practices throughout the search process to enhance the diversity of candidates and ensure optimal candidate experiences. Provides education and leads workshops for search committees.

Responsibilities

Develop strategic hiring plans with Deans and Department Chairs

Coordinate administration of search committee with Chair and Department Administrator

•Assist search committees with proactive strategies for recruitment of diverse candidates

•Write job posting in conjunction with search committee

•Make sure job ad is posted as widely as possible

•Educate search committees on unconscious bias and inclusive practices

•Provide relevant demographic data to the search committee members

•Develop and disseminate information packet to candidates to inform them about the university, college/department and the locale

•Develop selection criteria in conjunction with the search committee

•Develop standardized interview questions for each stage in the process

•Support search committee with candidate reviews at each stage of the process

•Develop strategy for candidate visits to campus

•Act as campus liaison for candidate campus visits

•Working with the department administrator, update applicant flow in People Admin

Develop and implement best practices for faculty searches

Coordinate with external search consultants as required

Assists chairs and deans with long-term proactive strategies for recruitment of diverse candidates

Assess the effectiveness of recruiting efforts

Problem Solving

Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision-making. May recommend changes to recruiting practices and processes.

The position requires the incumbent to possess a full range of professional knowledge and experience, that allows them to work with less supervision and review

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources, communication, career services, or a business or science related discipline. Experience working in an academic environment; knowledge of employment law and recruiting practices. Research, analytical and communication skills, with an ability to organize, prioritize and manage time and multiple searches required. Experience of working with diverse communities and faculty at all levels is required. Experience in workforce issues inSTEMdisciplines and working with senior level faculty and administrators
