Job Summary

Provides complex administrative support in the Academic Senate by assisting with the day to day operations and questions, budget, supporting the Academic Senate Leadership and associated committees, faculty club and the emeriti club, and website maintenance.


•Handles the administrative matters regarding day-to-day operations and procedures of the Academic Senate including the Executive Committee and related committees. Duties include planning meetings, developing agendas, providing related materials to attendees, and posting a summary on “At the U” website.

•Assists department with business planning and goal setting

•Work closely with Senate Leadership

•Maintains accounts and billings for the Academic Senate, Faculty Club, and Emeriti Club.

•Data Management. Maintain all records for Academic Senate, Senate committees, and university committees.

•Monitors budgets and expenditures to ensure limitations are not exceeded.

•Coordinates details such as purchasing activities, document control, account coding for financial transactions and overseeing the maintenance of departmental records.

•Reviews changes in university policy, federal regulations and contractual requirements and coordinates implementation procedures

•Provides administrative support to upper level department management by scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings and conferences and maintaining and ordering office supplies.

•USHE-Facilitate communication among member institutions and faculty and develop and maintain membership records.

•Website management

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Three years experience that includes specific involvement in maintaining complex financial records, developing and monitoring departmental budgets and preparing related reports; and demonstrated organizational, human relation and effective communication skills.

An understanding of University of Utah policies and procedures and experience with Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office Programs and WordPress also preferred.
