Provides complex administrative support for department management. Coordinates and oversees the work of support staff.
This position is considered Category IIA : Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID -19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID -19 Telecommuting Agreement.
1. Assists department with business planning and goal setting.
2. Assists with the development of department budgets.
3. Schedules, plans and coordinates work actions of support staff.
4. Maintains budget records, such as reconciling accounts and preparing expenditure statements.
5. Collects, organizes and analyzes data for specialized reports.
6. Coordinates the collection and preparation of operating reports.
7. Assists with the implementation of department and University policies and procedures.
8. Provides administrative support to upper level department management by scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings and conferences and maintaining and ordering office supplies.

Associate degree in business or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) and three years full-time secretarial experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and direct supervisory experience preferred.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. This position will require some travel to community clinics/Moran satellite clinic according to the faculty schedule to attend clinics and work directly with the patients for their oculoplastic needs, including preauths, scheduling, etc. Must also be flexible, able to work as part of both clinical teams and administrative support teams to promote an optimal patient experience. A self-directed professional able to adapt to various situations.
