This position is responsible for coordinating pulmonary and respiratory care in compliance with regulations and provides direct care to patients as needed. Accepts 24 hour accountability for patient care delivery, clinical resources management, and departmental clinical standards.
This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.
Oversees the mentoring or preceptor process.
Oversees all clinical issues and personnel matters as relevant.
Develops the implementation of protocols or other standards as needed.
Recruits and retains staff.
Educates external customers.
Assists with work in clinical areas.
May perform other duties, as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
Ability to provide care to the population served.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Ability to educate patients and staff.
Ability to provide safe, effective respiratory and pulmonary care.
Demonstrated ability to function as a clinical and an administrative role model.
Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency.
Three years related experience.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.

Current licensure to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Utah
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board of Respiratory Care
Master’s degree in a related area
Experience in acute rehabilitation center and/or long term ventilatory care
Two years’ experience in a leadership capacity
Two years’ experience in an educational position
