Job Summary

The Active Transportation – Field Internship is designed for students pursuing future careers in active transportation planning, engineering or advocacy. During the internship period from June – December 2018, this role will work on tasks and projects that have a measurable impact on University active transportation priorities (open to extend though Spring 2019 semester). This role is responsible for creating and collecting field data, maintaining facilities, and attending meetings plus office-sponsored events.

•Manage annual bicycle count during U Bike Week in September

•Maintain bicycle repair stations

•Assist in installation and layout of parking facilities

•Assist in tagging and impounding abandoned bicycles per University policy

•Assist in campus planning and development review processes

•Respond appropriately and promptly to community inquiries and attend office-sponsored events

•Design and implement relevant social media to increase awareness and provide encouragement

•Assist in gathering data to inform safety and awareness campaign

•Other outreach or office responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

•Experience in a field setting with minimal daily supervision

•Knowledge of active transportation principles and benefits to health and environment

•ArcGIS andGISCollector experience

•InDesign experience

•League Certified Instructor (LCI), League of American Bicyclists
