Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a radiologist who is specialized in the expanding Breast Imaging section. This position is a full-time specialized breast radiologist, and the academic appointment will be at a rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This individual is expected to make a significant impact in the field of Breast Imaging and to contribute to a collegial environment that will promote the academic and clinical growth of the section. The faculty responsibilities include: to provide clinical services and innovate care delivery; to support and engage in teaching for residents and fellows; to expand research programs and participate in the academic mission; and to advance quality improvement programs and value initiatives. The Section supports an outstanding Breast Imaging fellowship program. The Department is known internationally for its excellence in educational innovations and imaging research.

Qualifications: The candidate should be American Board of Radiology (or equivalent) certified or eligible, Breast Imaging fellowship (or equivalent)-trained in all aspects of clinical breast imaging. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The successful candidate must have the ability to interpret digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and breastMRIexaminations, and be able to perform core biopsies and preoperative needle localizations using x-ray, ultrasound andMRIguidance. The candidate should have a strong academic interest and prior evidence of excellence in education and/or research productivity.

Facilities and Institution: The breast imaging section provides clinical services for the University hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, anNCI-designated premier cancer center, and multiple outpatient centers throughout the Wasatch front. Expanding practice with plans for a new multispecialty outpatient center is ongoing. Extensive imaging resources are available for both clinical work and research, including multiple MRIs with breastMRIbiopsy capability, dedicated breast US units with elastography, tomosynthesis guided biopsy systems, a mobile mammography unit, intraoperativeMRI,PET-CT scanners, and innovative breast localization techniques. Pre-clinical imaging resources, such as microPET-MRIand 7TMRI, are also available. The section has also fostered close collaborative relationships with multiple departments including surgery, oncology, and pathology. Research opportunities abound, with a broad case mix from the sources described above, as well as the world-class unique support provided by the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) in the Department.UCAIRoffers international expertise in imaging sciences, including basic sciences, physics and engineering,MRIresearch, and CT andPETresearch. The group is working on breast cancer treatment using MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). University of Utah Health offer various leadership programs and research training opportunities for faculty members. Location: The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothill of the Wasatch Mountains at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains.
