Job Summary

The Academic Program Support Specialist position serves to provide prompt, reliable, and friendly service to students and advisors. Area of responsibility is focused on assisting students through the graduation process or assisting with distribution of transcripts and verifications of academic records.


1. Enters data, files records, and interacts with students, campus agencies, and the

general public concerning the creation, maintenance, and/or verification of academic

records that accurately reflect student coursework and degree attainment.

2. Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures as well as state and

federal regulations, particularly regulations pertaining to confidentiality and proper

disclosure of information.

3. Completes tasks assigned by supervisor in a timely manner; Follows directions from

supervisor to implement new policies and procedures.

4. Communicates policy and procedure information to various constituents. Makes

appropriate referrals as necessary.

5. Handles questions and complaints from students, parents, and departments in a

professional manner that will strengthen the university’s cooperative image. Seek

sources to identify, research, and resolve problems and complaints if answer is unknown.

6. May contribute to analysis of current process and suggest improvements as needed

to continually make the team more efficient and to provide better service to those we serve.

7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of general office experience, one of which in an academic setting; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. College coursework in a related area is preferred.

Department Specific Qualifications

- Evident customer service and effective communication skills required.

- Familiarity with PeopleSoft preferred.

- Exceptional attention to detail.

- Proven ability to provide high quality and quantity of work.

- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
