Job Summary

Develops and administers academic and research programs by designing curriculum, negotiating contracts and program funding, solving related problems and evaluating and redesigning medical student rotations/activities and some other programs. Manages students, collaborates with departments and faculty to develop course and research programs.

Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for providing patient care. However, you will be required to enter Emergency Department patient care space for various administrative duties.

Essential Functions

1. Plans, develops, establishes, and runs day to day operations of current/new programs and conferences to meet identified needs of medical student rotations and possibly non- ACGME fellowships.

2. Coordinates academic and research programs, strategic direction, marketing goal achievement and product delivery.

3. Oversees and schedules medical student shadowing, EMIG events, USIG events, and other activities.

-Supports the faculty and students by facilitating project logistics such as meetings, conference rooms, conference calls, etc.

-Coordinates procedural matters regarding the day-to day operations of an academic or administrative project.

-May take meeting minutes and action items during meetings and performs basic follow-up.

4. Develops and administers unit budget including educational and research funding.

5. Assesses the past performance of academic and research programs though program evaluations.

6. Assists clerkship directors, academic program manager, education director, and vice chair of education.

7. Coordinates with faculty advisors to perform various duties related to medical student education.

8. Advises staff, students and others regarding program policies, goals and related technical issues.

9. May plan and schedule course offerings.

10. May be required to fulfill University or department teaching/research assignments.

11. May direct and supervise staff by hiring, training, establishing goals and evaluating performance.

11. Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Drive, and prepared to learn new online systems.

12. Other administrative duties as need

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of experience in budget, grant and program management or equivalency required. Develops and implements program ideas into successful academic and research programs; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
