Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of the department by hiring and training new staff, evaluating performance, scheduling work shifts, monitoring of supplies and inventory and preparation of statistical reports.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at our location if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.

Responsibilities

1.Supervises the daily operations of the department including interviewing and hiring staff, assigning work, evaluating performance, training, planning work schedules and recommending pay increases.

2.Resolves problems and responds to complaints.

3.Assists in the revision and addition of department policies and procedures.

4.Assists in the long range planning of department goals.

5.Maintains department records and prepares monthly reports.

6.Organizes and conducts monthly staff meetings.

7.Orders materials and supplies for the department.

8.Participates and serves on committees/meetings.

9.May perform all duties of the department as required.

10.May assist in budget preparation.

11.Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures such as recording temperatures, pulse rate, blood pressure and responses to standardized medical history questions.

12.Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member.

13.Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments ( CLIA ) Waved Lab tests as identified by department and reports results to the appropriate personnel.

14.Monitors and cleans assigned patient examination rooms, unit areas and unit equipment reporting outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs.

15.Answers telephones, forwards telephone messages and under the direction of licensed staff schedules appointments, procedures and diagnostic tests.

16.Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, locating and compiling department charts, obtaining medical records from other providers and entering charges for billing purposes.

17.Attends and completes mandatory education including infection prevention and control, safety, CPR , equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies

Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of related experience with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity. Depending on the area of assignment, related experience could include medical billing and collections, medical records, pre-authorization, admissions, or other related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills essential.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related area, such as Accounting, Business, or Healthcare Management, may be preferred. Some positions may require knowledge of accounting, collections, coding, cash postings, data entry, and/or medical terminology.

Preferences

Preference will be given to candidates who are certified as a Medical Assistant or EMT /Paramedic, as well as those who are willing to travel and assist at outlying clinic locations.
