This position is responsible for overseeing accounting clerical and associate staff. The incumbent is also responsible for statutory accounting and reporting requirements.

This position is not responsible for providing patient care.


  • Supervises accounting clerical responsibilities including invoicing self-funded and fully insured clients and then ensuring proper receipt and accounting of payments.

  • Supervises accounting functions including maintenance of reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies, to ensure adherence to company guidelines.

  • Provides accounting assistance to accounting personnel and other internal customers; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.

  • Acts to facilitate issues between accounting clerk staff and other customers within the organization.

  • Selects and hires employees for the groups mentioned above.

  • Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product.

  • Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

  • Motivates and rewards employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and company guidelines.

  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with internal customers, external vendors, and staff members.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Good presentation skills for educating internal customers and staff members.

  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.




  • Bachelor 's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalency.

  • Three years of accounting experience.

Qualifications (Preferred)


  • Knowledge of SunGard financial systems.

  • Experience working with Insurance department filings and reporting requirements.

  • Experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting software.

  • Extensive experience with general ledger and statutory accounting principles.
