The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to provide care in inpatient and outpatient settings, working primarily in Southeastern Idaho. Clinical activities will focus on high-level gastroenterology care for children and adolescents and will include outpatient clinics and inpatient consults. The Pediatric Gastroenterologist has the opportunity to spend 3-4 weeks in Salt Lake City each year supervising the inpatient pediatric gastroenterology service at Primary Children’s Hospital. In addition to clinical care, the faculty member will participate in education and scholarly activities, with opportunities in quality improvement and advocacy as well.

The region’s inpatient facilities include Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center which has an inpatient unit, a 17 bedNICU, a six bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and endoscopy with pediatric anesthesia availability.

Southeastern Idaho includes the communities of Pocatello and Idaho Falls and surrounding areas. These are vibrant, growing communities. The region has unparalleled outdoor activities with Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks all within a two hour drive.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is a collegial and growing Division that maintains specialty interests in a variety of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutritional conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, eosinophilic disorders of the GI tract, feeding and swallowing disorders, comprehensive nutrition care, intestinal failure, chronic liver disease and transplantation, cystic fibrosis and pancreatology, and neurogastrointestinal and motility disorders. Major programs in precision medicine and quality improvement also exist.

Qualified candidates must be Board Qualified/Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
