This position for use in Health Plans Departments only.

This position provides technical support during and after the implementation of the health care electronic data interchange applications. Responds to inquiries regarding EDI issues with enrollment, claims, payments and/or clearinghouse activities.

This position is not responsible for providing care to patients

Responsibilities

  • Conducts analysis of EDI transactions and is responsible for documentation and reports.

  • Reviews the HIPAA and ANSI regulations and develops and presents recommendations to UUHP leadership.

  • Loads, monitors and tests EDI transactions.

  • Oversees the collection and organization of data that is entered into the databases.

  • Ensures the accuracy of data, analyzes conflicting data, and verifies and collects missing information.

  • Utilizes computer programs and software to analyze data, to determine trends and changes in data.

  • Provides documents and reports to administrators, and outside agencies as required.

  • Handles special projects and creates special reports as needed.

  • May perform supervisory duties.

  • May train staff.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of an ability to use office support tools available at the desktop (e.g. word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets).

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry’s trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters.

  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for documenting patient information from in-take to archiving.

  • Knowledge of medical records system applications.

  • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalency.

  • Two years experience in collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting.
