Job Summary

Continuing Education is looking for a savvy, outgoing person to act as Substitute Office Assistant in an “on-call” capacity at the University of Utah Sandy Center. This position requires working every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, and then filling in when needed other mornings: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.


Opening Procedures:

•Unlock exterior doors and turn off security alarm

•Open all classrooms, testing room, and computer lab

•Set up classrooms for instructors’ needs

•Retrieve telephone and email messages and return calls/emails


•Assist students and instructors with printing, copying, audio/video equipment and questions regarding the university via telephone and email, as well as in person

•Process payment for office supplies, computer lab printing, proctoring, and other services

•Administer/Proctor Exams and Make-up Exams for University of Utah students and students from other schools, colleges, and universities

•Distribute mail and materials to instructor and staff mailboxes

•Other duties as assigned

Closing Procedures:

•Check all classrooms as needed, rearrange seating, erase whiteboards, resupply markers, readjust blinds, secure remote controls and audio visual equipment

•Turn off lights and lock rooms

•Secure building by locking exterior doors and setting alarm system

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required. A commitment to provide excellent customer service and one-year, full-time customer service experience required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, experience with Adobe products preferred. Must have demonstrated good organizational, technical proficiency, human relations, and communication skills.
