Job Summary

Work in the Dept. of General Surgery, Division of Transplantation and Advanced Hepatobiliary Surgery. Gathers, organizes and analyzes data through literature searches and medical record reviews, and clinical data entry.

Responsibilities

Collects and compiles data from a variety of sources; will enter data into a PC. Maintains transplant database in conjunction with Huntsman Cancer Institute, the School of Medicine, and Primary Children’s Hospital. Prepares format for final disposition of data; maintains an internal library on project information resources and final data collected. Work with research coordinator in the design and preparation of research projects and in recording data. Other duties as assigned by research coordinator.

• Enters information into computerized information systems.

• Researches and evaluates all documents for accuracy and completeness to ensure correct data is entered.

• Reviews input against source documents for accuracy and edits as needed.

• Maintains document master files for backup and verification.

• Will be required to run queries and reports.

• Perform clerical duties as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Health, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency; one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; one year of coding experience usingICD-9-CM or equivalency. Knowledge of medical terminology and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.

Prior medical or epidemiological research experience helpful. Work both independently and within team environment. Will work with a variety of individuals and clinical research studies. Must be professional, reliable and able to multi task. Will be asked to successfully completeHIPAA,CITIand someRATSclasses within 30 days of hire.
