Designs the visual layout for websites or web-based products with the goal of enhancing appeal to the user while maximizing functionality. Designs graphics, pages, forms, and navigation schema. Requires familiarity withHTMLand various graphic design software packages.
This position allows significantly more creative freedom and autonomy than a typical university setting. The David Eccles School of Business has more than 40 WordPress websites that have not had any qualitative testing and minimal quantitative reporting. The UX Developer would be faced with the unique challenge of how to make our websites more engaging and increase enrollment for prospective students, while still offering relevant information to current students. This position would work directly with a website marketing manager, and a small team of interns, to make the websites successful. The Eccles School is pursuing ambitious growth goals, and this position will directly support achieving those goals.
The ideal applicant will be:
Excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders
Adept at working with clients to regularly deliver design solutions for approval
Willing to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them
Open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism
Passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation
Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies
Work with web team to analyze and improve UX for 40+ websites at the Eccles School (
Collect and use web analytics, qualitative and quantitative testing (focus groups, surveys, A/B), and best web practices to provide recommendations for strategic design and user-experience decisions
Support Marketing Manager to provide elegant analytics reports for all websites
Optimize our sites based on web analytics
Manage content updates (both large and small) on all websites based on feedback
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department and other key stakeholders to concept campaigns and project ideas
Has knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude required. Typically reports to a manager.
