This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the appropriate exam is performed based on physicians’ orders and patient history.

  • Enters patient demographics into database to provide tracking of images through Ultrasound Digital Storage System.

  • Performs ultrasound exams.

  • Delineates anatomy, disease process or pathological conditions in the patient population that they are working with.

  • Interprets ultrasound findings and tailors additional images based on the most likely diagnosis.

  • Provides accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam.

  • Updates patient logs and submits billing.

  • Ensures operation of equipment and coordinates equipment maintenance.

  • Assists with training of residents, fellows and other personnel rotating through labs.

  • May assist physician with invasive procedures.

  • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.

  • Ability to provide care to the population served.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.

  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills.

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited ultrasound technologist program.

  • ARDMS or ARRT(S) certified within 6 months of hire

Licenses Required

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.

Qualifications (Preferred):

Preferred

  • Certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

  • NT Certification (nuchal translucency
