Job Summary

Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City seeks a Full Time Stitcher, position available beginning August 2017.PTCis a professional theatre company working underLORTagreements withAEA,SDC, andUSAproducing a seven show mainstage season that runs from August through May. This is a full time benefited position, salary is commensurate with experience. Under the direction of the Costume Shop Manager, the Stitcher Constructs, in a structured period of time, any number of costumes which may include historical period costumes and contemporary clothing, as well as imaginary and fantasy looks created by the costume designer for Pioneer Theatre Company mainstage and student productions.


Essential Functions

1.Construction the costumes from cut patterns using machine sewing and hand stitching techniques.

2.Construction of foundation garments sometimes using rigilene or metal boning to help in creating the correct silhouette for the period.

3.Various alterations of pulled or purchased costumes to fit the current actor.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of three years of sewing experience using various types of sewing machines and hand work; a knowledge in textiles, dying, scheduling, and theatrical design; excellent oral and written communications skills; and an ability to work in a detail and deadline-oriented environment required. A commitment to the service excellence concept also required.
