University of Utah Health Telecommunications Engineer Support in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The incumbent maintains and enhances telecommunications networks, systems and equipment. The incumbent assist in analyzing existing networks and equipment and identified opportunities for improvement.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with other team members and groups to identify and develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations.

  • Installs RFID/RTLS tags on equipment.

  • Installs, terminates, tests label and documents horizontal, backbone POE network cables.

  • Installation of RFID antennas and connect to network.

  • Ensures continued smooth operations of the global network infrastructure.

  • Prepares various documents such as work orders, purchase orders, records equipment, facilities and systems, and budget paperwork.

  • Performs tasks associated with the engineering of network systems used in data communications services.

  • Respond to service requests.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of and the ability to utilize a variety of administrative sets and technical knowledge to manager organizational IT policies, standards and procedures.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to design, implement and integrate IT hardware for tis used and business environments.

  • Knowledge of data networks



  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • Two years of experience on a service provider or enterprise-level network in engineering or design roles.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Network Certification such as CCNP/CCIE/JNCIS/JNCIE

  • RTLS/RFID Experience
