This position is for a Student Research Assistant to work on federally funded research studies of an innovative mindfulness-based treatment (Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement, seeMORE) for opioid-treated chronic pain patients. The research assistant will recruit and screen patients with multiple comorbidities (including chronic pain, mental health disorders, and substance use disorders), and provide administrative support via telephone to schedule research assessments and maintain follow-up contact with research participants.
Recruits participants via phone calls and in-person recruiting; screens potential participants for eligibility criteria; schedules research assessments by phone; follow-up contacts with research participants to help retain them in the studies and prevent study attrition; maintain study databases. Position may also conduct research assessments, which include structured assessments of psychological symptoms, cognitive tasks, and psychophysiological measures, and perform data cleaning and entry.
IRBCITICourse in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Major in social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, or a related field, or equivalency is desired; administrative assistant experience; phone recruiting experience; prior clinical trial experience involving direct patient contact; experience working with chronic pain and substance abuse.
