Conducts advanced statistical analyses of qualitative and quantitative data and interprets results; participates in study design; writes research proposals, grants and manuscripts; and, works to broaden research within the associated program or department.
Oversees/conducts statistical analyses, employing methods of descriptive statistics, sample comparisons, regression analysis, survival analysis, mixed effect models and multivariate analysis.
Assists with study design development and other research as needed within the program or department.
Formats data for statistical analysis.
Manages data statistical packages (SAS, S-Plus, SEERstat,SPSS) and writes procedures in applicable program.
Makes recommendations to respective Principal Investigator (P.I.) as to preferable methods of analysis and research formats for proposed projects; may act as the P.I. in some departments.
Writes research proposals, grants, and manuscripts; directs preparation of manuscripts and presentation materials.
Reviews patient charts, death certificates, or other health information documents to obtain and verify data.
May devise methods and procedures for colleting data.
May travel to a variety of sites within and outside the University to coordinate research projects; and, acts as the University’s representative for a specialty area when contacting other departments and outside organizations.
May prepare and maintain regulatory documents associated with studies.
May supervise junior research staff.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency; plus four years related research experience, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
