Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications, particularly focused on the development of Web-based user interfaces and consumption of Web services. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Following general guidelines and accepted technical approaches performs tasks in the design, development, and implementation of software engineering applications, the analysis and investigation of software engineering project tasks, the definition of design specifications and parameters, development and application of standard routines and utility programs, resolution of hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations and analysis of system architecture requirements and structure.
Performs complicated and difficult assignments under general direction requiring a high degree of technical competence reflecting current state-of-the-art applications. Conceives and plans projects involving the assessment of basic architecture, current hardware limitations, defines and selects new concepts and approaches May lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to a project lead or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Departmental Technical Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Formal training in biomedical informatics and/or experience developing healthcare applications and information systems is desirable. Knowledge of and experience with healthcare information technology and terminology standards are also desirable.
Experience with Java-based languages and environments (e.g., Groovy, Ratpack) is also desirable.
