Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure)/DOQ– Health Services Research and Outcomes (University of Utah Health – Psychiatry)

The Department of Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry Division, within the University of Utah School of Medicine, seeks to hire two faculty members in the area of Health Services and Outcomes . The rank of the appointment is open and will be commensurate with the experience and professional accomplishments of the selected applicants. The minimal qualifications include the completion of a M.D. or Ph.D. degree and experience in research in the area of health services.

Consistent with the current vision and mission of the department and the division, preference will be given to applicants who have a combined and integrated interest in clinical, investigative, and teaching activities. Appointment at any level beyond Assistant Professor will require a successful record of external funding to support research activities, some administrative experience, and an active publication record of accomplished research.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant field and experience in mental health services, population management or interventions or access research.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Care:

•Support clinical work by the evaluation of efficacy and value of treatments if appropriate or provide clinical work if preferred (e.g., clinical psychologist).

Investigation:

•Responsible for developing a research program in psychiatric health services (e.g., outcomes or interventions). Responsible for writing grants and conducting well designed and implemented studies.

•Developing long term strategies for research projects and program growth, including the acquisition of independent research funding

•Writing scientific research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals

•Presenting work locally as well as at national and international conference

•Collaborate with scientists in other disciplines as relevant for advancements in the field

Education:

•Engage in educational activities in the Department and Medical School.

•Serve as medical student and resident mentor as appropriate.

Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry.
