Postdoctoral position is available for motivated scientists to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms controlling cellular iron homeostasis. Dysregulation of iron metabolism results in hematological and neurodegenerative disorders, and diabetes in humans. Research goals are focused on using genetic approaches in C. elegans and mammalian systems to identify novel genes involved in iron metabolism that are relevant to human iron-related diseases. This project utilizes a multidisciplinary approach that employs genetic screens,RNAanalysis, protein analysis, enzymatic assays, metabolomics, functional genomics and mammalian cell culture.

2. Collaborate with scientists externally and internally
3. Demonstrate effective communication skills; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publications in scientific journals
4. Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students
PhD or MD and proven research experience in molecular biology, cell biology or biochemistry. The applicant will have demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment as evidence by at least one first-author publication in a scientific journal.
Prior experience in C. elegans is an added advantage
