The Department of Pathology at The University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who shares our vision for excellence in research. The position will be based at The University of Utah School of Medicine, ranked among the top 30 public research universities in the nation, located in the foothills overlooking Salt Lake City. In this position you will have the opportunity to work side by side with other world-class professionals, develop your skills, and grow your career.
Projects are focused on investigating the role of different mitochondrial and lysosomal transporters in iron metabolism.
This position will give you the unique chance to actively drive research projects focused on identifying and characterizing metal transporters and how they affect iron homeostasis in cell culture and in model organisms including mice and S. cerevisiae.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a closely related field and must have research experience using standard and up-to-date molecular biology methods, tissue culture, mouse genetics and cell biology techniques. Applied techniques includeRNA/DNAextraction, quantitativePCR, flow cytometry, metabolic profiling and tissue culture. Bioinformatics skills are desirable.
Experience with molecular biology, flow cytometry and tissue culture are desirable. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills and enjoys working in a collaborative and multidisciplinary team.
