Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available to qualified and motivated individuals to investigate the role of iron in the development of diabetes. Topics of research focus on the iron regulation of metabolic pathways in liver, pancreatic beta cells and adipose. This project utilizes a multidisciplinary approach that employs diabetic transgenic mouse models, mammalian cell culture, protein biochemistry, enzymatic analysis,RNAanalysis, proteomics, metabolomics and functional genomics.


1. Perform self-directed research

2. Maintain mouse colonies and isolate animal tissues for experiments

3. Collaborate with scientists externally and internally

4. Demonstrate effective communication skills; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publications in scientific journals

5. Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD or MD and proven research experience in molecular biology, cell biology or biochemistry. The applicant will have demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment as evidence by at least one first-author publication in a scientific journal.


Preference is given for experience in transgenic mouse models of human disease.
