Postdoctoral position is available for motivated scientists to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms controlling intestinal lipid handling in the laboratory of Amnon Schlegel (Cruz Garcia and Schlegel 2014. J Lipid Res 55,1944; Benitez-Santana et al. 2017 Front Physiol 8, 280). Research goals are focused on using genetic and physiological approaches in zebrafish and mammalian systems to elucidate the basis for storing or secreting absorbed lipids. This project utilizes a multidisciplinary approach that employs live imaging,RNAanalysis, protein analysis, blood and tissue chemistry, enzymatic assays, metabolomics, functional genomics and mammalian cell culture.

3. Demonstrate effective communication skills; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publications in scientific journals
4. Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students
PhD or MD and proven research experience in molecular biology, cell biology or biochemistry. The applicant will have demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment as evidence by at least one first-author publication in a PubMed-indexed scientific journal. Applicant must be eligible for USNIH-based training grant and fellowship support.
Prior experience with nuclear receptor biology, cell culture, mouse and zebrafish lipid metabolism
