Job Summary

Responsibilities

Assists the Radiopharmacist in preparing patient prescriptions for in-patient and out-patient services.

Reconstitutes medications as needed to prepare radiopharmaceuticals.

Orders pharmaceutical supplies; receives and documents receipt of supplies.

Prepackages and compounds radiopharmaceutical supplies as required to maintain stock levels; orders and rotates stock supplies;

Uses the pharmacy computer system to complete medication order entry, billing, computer reports, audits, file maintenance,ADTrectification, prescription distribution, and submission of drug orders.

Communicates with staff and customers regarding pharmacy activities.

Answers telephone calls; performs all aspects of customer service, including typing and filling prescriptions; maintains files; completes clerical duties; maintains clerical equipment; and completes other duties required to maintain proper functioning of the Pharmacy Department.

Cleans laminar flow hoods and other sterile work areas.

Performs and documents monthly unit inspections of areas where medications are dispensed, stored, and administered; identifies and retrieves outdated drugs and supplies.

May perform billing functions.

May develop, implement and coordinate quality improvement, staff orientation, or staff development programs.

May assist in training new employees in some pharmacy areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Utah.

Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

Care is appropriate to the population served.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
