This is an integral position to the medical billing and collection process. The incumbent is responsible for gathering a variety of billing documentation and works collaboratively to aid other staff in completing the billing and collection functions. This incumbent also provides input regarding the internal operation of the department. This position makes a difference by maximizing efficiency through facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between internal and external teams. 1.Using Excel macros incumbent is responsible for pulling, copying, batching & scanning patient medical records and charge tickets to aid other staff and departments in completing billing functions.
2.Reconcile clinic or provider visits and reports on missing, incomplete, or inconsistent documentation by contacting appropriate personnel.
3.Implement, maintain and run macros for charge capture. Review to ensure results are correct.
4.Responsible for updating and implementing procedures, processes and strategies to ensure timely and accurate capture of charge information.
5.Utilize coding and billing knowledge, review trends, to accurately key charges into Epic Billing System.
6.Research inquiries from internal and external customers regarding charge capture questions within established timeframes.
7.Escalate trends and issues to appropriate supervisor/manager to identify and prevent billing errors.
8.Overtime may be required.
9.Other duties as assigned.
This position requires two years of business office experience, with at least one of the years preferable in a health care setting or equivalency. 35WPMtyping, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
1.Introductory knowledge ofCPTandICD-10 coding
2.Effective verbal and written communication, customer service skills and human relation skills.
3.Intermediate Excel and word processing skills preferred.
4.Excellent organizational skills.
5.Ability to use good problem solving skills and analytical reasoning to provide resolution to charge capture issues.
6.Ability to be resourceful to gather information to resolve missing charges.
7.Positive attitude, a willingness to learn new duties and work together with our existing staff as a productive member of our team.
8.Ability to diagnose error and detect abnormalities in charge details.
