The Department of Pediatrics in the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for an Outpatient Services Specialist. The Outpatient Services Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service, and facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical and hospital staff and Divisions within the Department. This position is housed in a call center, separate from clinic locations.
This is a temporary, non-benefited position. The anticipated term of employment is three to four months.
•Verify registration by obtaining current patient demographics and insurance information.
•Schedule appointments related to referrals
•Enter referrals into electronic medical records (EMR) for tracking and reporting purposes.
•Review and verify communication has been received and/or sent for entered referrals.
•Obtain records for upcoming appointments.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
One year of continuous office experience or equivalency; basic computer skills; and successful completion of a medical terminology course provided by the hospital within the first year of employment required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
Experience withICD-9 andCPT4 coding may be preferred.
One year experience in patient registration, admitting or related work may be preferred.
