Job Summary

Outreach Work-Study Assistant


Hours/Week: variable (8 during the less busy season, 20 during September/October/November)

Pay: $12/hour

UHEAA’s Outreach team spearheads Utah’sFAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion initiatives, organizes and facilitates community outreach events throughout the state, and creates and provides information to Utah’s students and families about financial aid and financial literacy (videos, blogs, social media posts, web sites, other web-based resources, etc.). The team is seeking a qualified student interested in gaining experience with community relations and outreach, social media marketing and outreach, and relationship management.



•Knowledge of social media networks, applications, and trends

•Strong written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills

•Knowledge of federal student aid/the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)/financial aid processes and funds preferred

•Comfortable interacting with the public/public speaking

•Organized, punctual, and reliable

•Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel

•High degree of professionalism

•Good sense of humor!


•Participate in blog writing and research about college readiness and financial literacy (see

•Assist community outreach officers in planning and executingFAFSACompletion Events and other outreach events at high schools and community centers

•Analyze a variety of survey data from outreach events to determine event efficacy

•Update and help maintain customer relationship management database

•Collect and organize student directories from Utah school districts

•Assist with various other office tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required. One year full-time customer service experience or equivalency, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
