Work Schedule Summary
The position is full time (approximately 40 hours/week) working three 12 hour shifts per week from 6:30a-6:30p, including rotating weekends and holidays. Weekend shifts are 6 hours; 6:30a-12:30p. There is also a periodic evening rotation (2:00p-10:00p). This will change depending where you are being trained.

Explore this exciting opportunity to complete a 12 month residency in oncology with the Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Service at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). The Postgraduate OncologyAPCresidency will prepare APCs to care for cancer patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The essential functions of this position include (but are not limited to):
•Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests
•Initiate or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies within scope of practice
•Provide patient and family education.
•Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
•Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence
•Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care initiatives
•Participation in quality, patient experience and efficiency improvement activities
•Meets with patients, families and significant others about health and illness, with the goal of promoting ongoing health maintenance
•Evaluates, plans, implements and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures
•Actively supports of Division and Program initiatives and goals
•Works with Director of Advanced Practice to formulate a plan for professional development
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Certification inACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLSmay be required by your department or by privileging criteria. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area; and demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills are required.
Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.UHPPM1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

Preference may be given to applicants with prior acute care or oncology experience, however all applicants will be considered and are strongly encouraged to apply regardless of experience or specialty.
