University of Utah Health Neuromonitoring Technician in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Neuromonitoring Technician will observe patients via video and EEG monitoring. Performing electrode application, and ensure patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties associated with neurodiagnostic procedures under direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Observes patients via video monitoring to identify and note ictal events.

  • Alerts appropriate personnel to the occurrence of each seizure event and calls the appropriate personnel to assist when problems occur.

  • Adjusts video equipment to keep patients in view and in focus.

  • Operates various non-invasive monitoring devices.

  • Oversees the adequate function of the EEG recording equipment and maintain integrity of the monitoring procedure.

  • Records observations and analyzes test data to ensure appropriate data is collected.

  • Maintains lab equipment, ensures room is clean, institutes quality control procedures.

  • Ensures labs are properly stocked and supplies ordered.

  • Maintains patients safety through communication to other patient care staff.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

  • Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

  • Ability to assimilate data from various sources.

  • Ability to display active listening and verbalize empathy.

  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and process.

  • Ability to develop relationships with patients, guests and coworkers.

  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations to insure patient information is guarded and respected.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Required

  • 6 months or more working in a patient care environment.

Licenses Required

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.

* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Qualifications (Preferred):

Preferred

  • Associates degree or enrolled in CAAHEP accredited Electroneurodiagnostic Program.

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care.
