Assists in all areas of clinical radiation use to help ensure compliance with radiation regulations and radioactive material license conditions. Reports to the Senior Diagnostic Medical Physicist.


  • Performs radiation surveys, inspections, and evaluations in all clinical use areas

  • Manages occupational dose monitoring program for clinical staff

  • Manages radiation protections garment inventory and inspection program

  • Assists with policy and procedure creation and revision

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Knowledge of radiography tools, technique and applications.

  • Knowledge of the equipment used for radiation protection purposed; ability to select, maintain, and demonstrate proper usage of equipment in a medical environment.

  • Knowledge of radiation safety regulations, principles, techniques and nuclear materials handling; ability to practically apply this knowledge to resolve safety issues.




  • BS in Health Physics or related field

Qualifications (Preferred):


  • 3 years experience

  • MS in Health Physics or related field

  • Eligibility for Board Certification by the American Academy of Heath Physics (CHP

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. Incumbents face exposure to radiation and other contaminants on a daily basis as part of their job.
