Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, responsible for division/department operations, pertaining to, financial, personnel and regulatory communication. Provides strategic support and leadership in planning, developing, and implementing new businesses process needed to advance the mission and goals of the division/department. Assist in evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures. Recommends changes when necessary and assist in implementation of new processes. Acts as a supportive and creative catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.


Essential Functions

1. Develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.

2. Analyzes process outcomes and workflow to ensure and identify efficiencies in productivity and savings.

3. Manages new businesses and services to internal and external customers.

4. Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.

5. Monitors the appropriateness and effectiveness of service within the division in order to deliver outstanding service to both internally and externally to the division.

6. Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.

7. Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned departments’ continuous quality improvement program.

8. Presents financial and regulatory information to external customers on a monthly basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
