Performs routine clerical procedures and patron services at the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library – in the public services department..
Provides quality service to the patrons of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library. Primary duties include welcoming patrons, assisting patrons with print and electronic resources, answering in person, telephone, chat or email reference questions, assisting with software applications, checking out materials, and performing other transactions using a computerized library system. Assists with in-house checking of materials, shelving, shifting and retrieval of materials, statistics gathering, and special projects. Researching responsibilities include database and online catalog searching, the utilization of specialized software, and the pulling, scanning, and processing of requests. Refers patrons to other library services and campus resources. Assists librarians and administrators with project-based tasks. Implement social media marketing on behalf of the library.
Assumes additional duties and responsibilities during evening and weekend hours when other library staff members are not present. Other duties as assigned.
Six months clerical or customer service experience required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills. Approachable and service-oriented. Punctual and reliable in fulfilling assigned shifts and projects. Flexible and willing to learn new tasks. Computer and social media expertise preferred. Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint knowledge preferable. Customer services or library public services experience. Knowledge of campus electronic databases and research tools. Knowledge of quality consumer health resources.
