Job Summary

Assist with daily operations of the Surface Analysis Lab, including care and operation of lab equipment.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily operations of the Surface Analysis Lab. Job duties will involve routine cleaning and maintenance of

advanced analytical instruments, and assisting users with the lab. Part of the job duties will be to become proficient in

several surface analysis techniques (AFM, Optical Profilometry,SEM, etc.) such that you can provide scientific support to

the lab users.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.

Often: Infectious disease, oils ( there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids ), hazards ( includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals ).

Seldom: Exposure to animals.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

Students interested in Engineering are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications: General knowledge of lab safety. Demonstrate computer skills and effective communication skills

with good customer service are required.
