Job Summary

Develops and implements client solutions for the Advanced Manufacturing business unit of the University of Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center (MEPCenter). Includes responsibility for client acquisition, service delivery and post evaluation, continuous improvement and quality management.


Individual will be responsible for the traditional manufacturing and nano- and microscale processes portion of the Advanced Manufacturing business unit, which includes: bridging the gap between high tech and the work floor, identification, evaluation and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies. Will also interact with key partnerships such as the University of Utah Nanofab, Southern Utah University, Salt Lake Community College, Utah College of Applied Technology andNNMIManufacturing Innovation Institutes.

Essential Functions

•Service outreach to potential client companies by e-mail, phone, networking, and site-visits throughout Utah.

•Client company assessments and preparation of service delivery project proposals.

•Direct service delivery and/or service delivery management with consultants or contractors.

•Evaluation of service delivery and client satisfaction, lessons learned and continuous improvement of service delivery.

•Stay abreast of latest programs or services in traditional, nano- and microscale manufacturing technology.

•Sets goals and milestones for the Advanced Manufacturing business unit.

•Maintain an up to date financial and accounting impact of the business unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; 3 – 5 years experience or more in traditional and nano- / microscale manufacturing. Demonstrated skills in self-management and accountability, financial planning, quality improvement and service delivery, demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.


10 years or more of direct experience in traditional, nano- and microscale manufacturing, knowledge of the Utah manufacturing industry, and experience working with small- and medium-sized businesses. Possess an entrepreneurial mindset and go-getter mentality.
