This position is responsible for developing long-term goals and strategic objectives for an organization. Identifies, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity. May also be responsible for recommending financial and non-financial strategic alternatives and developing and maintaining operational plans.
This position does not provide patient care.
Member of the Financial Planning team, provides insight and feedback to ensure our team is focused on what is most important and finding creative solutions to problems.
Supports the Hospital & Clinics annual capital and operations planning cycle.
As needed provides financial support on pro forma analysis to help inform the financial impact of decisions. Could be for a piece of equipment, a renovation of existing space, new service, etc.
Works with budget owners to understand variances between budget and actual and helps to create action plans and remediation as needed.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Helps to support our planning system (SAP EPM 10.1 for the Microsoft Platform).
Previous experience in a corporate budget/planning function is helpful as well as previous experience in the Healthcare Industry, preferably in an Academic Health Center.
Performs a variety of tasks.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, database systems, VBA, SQL, etc.
Strong critical thinking and analysis, with firm attention to detail and skill in synthesizing information in a concise manner
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in office software products
Strong analytical, database and spreadsheet skills
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Flexible, action-oriented team player
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Self-motivated and engaged in the work. Work is performed with little direct supervision.
Ability to communicate written and verbally. Able to effectively work with various populations from Executives, Senior Leaders, Management, and staff.
Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Understand complex financial transactions and able to explain in plain English the impact of such transactions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalency.
Five years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
