The Financial Analyst position expands across a breadth of methodologies and tools in various categories. This position will work closely with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Network (OGRN) and deals primarily with clinical research projects. Prepares reports, conducts special projects, and provides analysis to all levels of management.
1.Prepares and interprets management information and other financial reports.
2.Analyzes financial documents, statistical data, historical data and presents to and interprets for management.
3.Participates in the establishment and maintenance of cost accounting systems.
4.Audits accounting systems, reconciles data, and resolves technical problems or recommends solutions when appropriate.
5.Analyzes trends and possible consequences.
6.Recommends and implements improvements that affectOGRNresearch operations, departmental research operations, principal investigators, research coordinators and research staff.
7.Participate within a multidisciplinary team across multiple locations. Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal colleagues and customers.
8.Work with theOGRNleadership team to devise and implement research strategies.
9.Provide data and financial analysis toOGRNphysician leadership, as well as to department management.
10.Perform research program and operations analysis.
11.Implement and potentially lead performance improvement initiatives.
12.Assume ownership for working with appropriate groups to address challenges or resolve issues as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency; plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical,problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
An advanced degree, such as a Master’s of Business Administration, is preferred. Certain positions may require familiarity with hospital billing systems, Medicare and insurance reimbursement regulations, etc.

A thorough knowledge of research database processes; established clinical research accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
Distinguished candidates will exhibit awareness of research data collection processes (the gathering of data), information analysis (transformation of data to understand its meaning), and vision (the capacity, governance and process to do something with the information). Preference will be given to applicants with previousNIHresearch experience.
