This position is responsible for coordinating projects related to emergency and disaster preparedness.
This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.
Responsible for accurate and up-to-date inventory of emergency preparedness equipment and supplies. This also includes performing regular preventative maintenance (PM) functions at the assigned time interval in order to ensure that all supplies and equipment are current, in tip top shape and ready for immediate use and deployment at a moment’s notice.
Responsible for special disaster stockpile supplies. This requires careful monitoring of expiration dates and coordination with key stakeholders to ensure timely rotation with new stock.
Responsible for HAZMAT and decontamination supplies and equipment which requires daily and weekly monitoring and maintenance as applicable.
Responsible for rounding and conducting ongoing physical environment and preparedness assessments and audits. This includes identification of potential risks, threats, hazards, or vulnerabilities followed by providing recommendations to help ensure proper documentation, closeout and sustainment of corrections over time.
Responsible to conduct emergency management risk assessments and becoming familiar with department and institutional processes to address concerns (i.e., P.A.C.E. Plans, etc.).
Works with the Emergency Management (EM) Director and the two division Emergency Managers in all aspects of the program.
Supports the Emergency Management team and program overall. This includes providing training support, drill and exercise support, documentation support, and response to real incidents that may occur 24/7, 365.
Willingly supports any other Emergency Management duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
Demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards related to Emergency Management (local, state, federal including but not limited to DNV, TJC, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, etc.).
Demonstrated understanding of Hazmat and OSHA applicable regulations.
Ability to partner, build relationships and collaborate with others.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Ability to see projects through from start to completion.
Ability to educate and train others.
Ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations.
Ability to be on-call 24/7, 365 as needed and respond to emergencies at any time of the day or night
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds but knows when to seek help with lifting and how to use proper lifting techniques and lift equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalency.
Two years experience in Emergency Preparedness.
Two years clinical experience.
Carrying, Climbing, Color Determination, Lifting, Listening, Manual Dexterity, Pulling and/or Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Speaking, Standing, Stooping and Crouching, Walking
